just my yarn

...Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things...

easily amused-

i was in chicago for a few days and i scored this fab lunch box (forgot the name of the store) and these buttons at- Tender Buttons- so fab- so over-priced, thankfully it is farther than a stroll away. i heart those marilyn buttons... nevertheless, the fact remains that i am ever so.....

the goodie bucket

this could just be some quirky thing that i do- but i save every card, thank you note, word of praise anything that anyone has ever written to me that says something nice- i can guarantee you that i have it somewhere in this house. i hang stuff on my bulletin board at work, i have stuff in my purse- oh it's a bit of a sickness perhaps- like when i went back to school and my professor emailed me and told me that he was going to use a paper that i wrote as an example for future students ( and did i mind?!?)- i printed that sucker out and i carry it around in a zip lock bag in my purse...so look what i made last nite- a fuzzy green goodie bucket! (nancy !) and for those of you who may be wondering what happened with the purple fleur ~ it did not felt- musta had some man-made fiber in it.

semi-success...

here is my felted clutch still wet from the washin' machine and of course, the inside looks better than the outside. but things are looking up- it looks better than the "bowls."

back to the felting drawing board.

i got a coupla different kids of yarn yesterday at knitorious- which btw- is FAB! hadn't been there since they first opened and they have really great yarn. anyway, i got my 15s and i'm gonna give this another shot. i may even give this little clutch to my secret pal if it doesn't end up looking like H-E- double hockey sticks. She likes purples...

look what kelly made****

This is all stitched by hand. It is everything I lerve- green, flowers, and you know- Kelly!
Thanks, We...I mean Kel.

she hits, she runs, she scores~

so, someone asked me yesterday what i have learned from kelly- i pretty much just started talking about her- she is a great musician, funny, sweet and she does not stray from her convictions- on top of which, she retains what she reads (a quality i am beginning to appreciate more and more.) well, on top of that, i learned from kelly that i can play baseball! i am not kidding- so now, it's me and sandy koufax, the two major jewish ball players. this is a bigger deal than you can imagine since my whole school career when all the other girls were flying over the pommel horse- oh yeah, you guessed it... i was like the horse who gets spooked at the last minute and comes to a screeching halt. but, i'm totally over that! ;-)
the other point of all of this aside from bragging about my sports prowess is to tell you how much i have learned from both of my kids- for all these years that they have been growing themselves up- well, i have been doing the same. sometimes i just take it all for granted and then someone asks a simple question and i have that oprah-aha-moment...so you know these sweet, funny cd-purging kids of mine who threw out half of my collection last weekend (still have the old navy remix and the kenny g!) have taught me patience and humility- they truly have humbled me, made me laugh til i have cried, angered me, loved me unconditionally (big fat mama pants and all) and kept me grounded more than you will ever know- so to you k and e and to your giving, loving birth-mothers- happy mother's day! xxxmom

always on the cutting edge-

that would be me. remember when about 3 or 4 years ago everyone was hot for making those fridge magnets with the glass globs? well, i just got around to making some last night. whilst cleaning up or out the kraft kave, it just came to me to make some. what the heck! it was only 9 pm and i had nothing better to do... and i love small stuff- itty bitty, tiny cute-sy- so these little collages were just what the dr. ordered. oh yeah and did i mention- i hate wal-mart! why that store keeps a strangle-hold on me i cannot say. i will stay away for 6 months and then boom- like an addict i gotta go in and just see. what's up with that? i hate that they had these cute, cheap buttons and some really great sequined mules-hot pink that I also had to have...oh well. i'm off to work- as we all know, alzheimer's never takes a holiday.

despite our best intentions-

we (!) sometimes don't always succeed. i thought i would entitle these bowls (?) dumb and dumber in honor of the movie. wendy, i told you they were awful!

My Mother's Day gift to all...

No nobler thought my soul may claim.
No softer word my tongue may frame.
Than just that one word-
Mother.
All of compassion, of goodness, of love,
All sweetness of Heaven above,
G-d bless the name of Mother.

tag-o-licious-

for those of you who are tracking my every move and breath (such excitement!) just wanted to let you know that we spent monday nite in the cafeteria of the hiGh scHool eating a fab supper and watching mega-talented band geeks (kelly's description) get awards and accolades. here is the beautimous fuzzy band lyre for the bulletin board i suppose. wtg, kel.

i watched a lot of tv this weekend.

memoirs of a geisha, an edward r. murrow movie that i don't know the name of, desparate housewives and grey's!
