just my yarn

...Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things...

Guess what I'm doing?

Cutting down and shoving over 15 years worth of photos into binders. Oh happy day! I thought perhaps we might actually look at them if I took them out of the envelopes. This is a store in Vail that I never particularly liked-just not my cup o'tea...but for years, like 7 of them, they had the SAME sign in the window- "I'm out of estrogen and I've got a gun!" Vive la Femme! And the other thing is- have you ever done something that was so simple you wondered why you had not done it say--15 years earlier?

best friends

I am not sure how many valuable lessons I have taught my kids but one thing I always tell them is that if you get to the end of your life and you have one good friend-you will be lucky indeed. I can remember in like 5th grade making these horrible notebooks that had friends on one page and people who weren't worthy on the next page. Eek! The thought of it makes me shudder. So anyway- Angelica gave me this great little book yesterday and as you can see it has a page that says "Best Friends" on it. Right off the bat, she started apologizing that we really aren't best friends and la di dah in her sweet way. It just made me start to think about who my best friend really is and do I have a best friend. Here is a photograph of things that friends have given me and this is what was just in reach- not to mention yarn and books and earrings and words and phone calls and hugs and moral support and on and on and too much to wrap my brain around without you know...crying. So Angelica, thanks for the beautiful book- and to you- who got up or stayed up and left messages on every blog and website about my demo yesterday are a great friend indeed.

adios lord and taylor

look what i got last night at l and t- another piece of costume jewlery that i don't need. is this the greatest or what? my grandma rose used to call it l and t when i was little and she would take me there for lunch- to the bird cage. so it's about 2:29 am or whatever it says below and i am wide awake taking mega-doses of imtrex and stressing over the demo not the demo perse, but that i will forget half the stuff i need to bring- believe me- things have been popping into my head for days- and that i have chosen something that will tax the attention span of even the most attentive. it will be fun though and maybe i'll bring my new bracelet. guitar-city, kel!

hola colleen

my friend colleen and i have walked many miles together-two marathons (26.2 miles each) and countless random miles on countless random sunday mornings for the past 9 or so years. we have solved so many problems you would think that the world would be practically perfect by now. she is a great friend and i mean that- she has listened to me yell and scream and laugh and cry and she has shown up every sunday with that queen elizabeth wave that i can see from a mile away. and she knows how to drag a birthday out with the best of 'em. thanks colleen. i heart U. becky.

studio friday

here's my inspiration- older adults. this photograph comes from a book called "after ninety" by imogen cunningham. so, everyday i am motivated, moved and inspired by older adults- by their intelligence, spirit, willingness to help, sense of humor, and positive attitude.

knowing when to say when.

sometimes it is just impossible to stop loading on the glitter and the flowers and the ribbon and pins and tags and grommets- i think this thing weighs more than a can of peas! hope she likes it.
