just my yarn

Studio Friday

Truth: Days off from work paralyze me because I have 10 zillion things I want to do and a limited time to do them in. One thing I actually have already done is to begin painting a shadowbox for a Valentine present.
Truth: I did not want to get my hands dirty today.
So: Here is my wimped out Studio Friday entry.

my ship has come in...

today a wonderful package came in the mail full o' photos... this got the biggest yucks...the report card from 8th grade with Cs and C-s galore telling me to "pay attention" is going straight in the trash! nothing like unearthing some old demons from the late 60s. and ya know- i still have trouble paying attention.

studio friday-eye spy

the nimrod who started it all.

just a few years ago, i would have never given this kitty cat stamp set another look- toooooo cute for my taste! oh, but nowadays because of the nitwit pictured above, i even have a kitty cat key chain! and a kitty cat pin that looks just like ted, that i wear! out of the house! in broad daylight! so now i am the proud owner of this fab stamp set. I don't even care if i ever use it. it is just so darn cute, i could just set it on a shelf and gaze at it periodically... love ya ted.

ya gotta love him.

little ted goes exploring. as i said, ya gotta love him.

some good words for the new year-

The wheel of time keeps moving. The old year goes away and the new year
claims its place. There's a reason we call it the "wheel" of time. The
word
"annual" comes from the Latin annus meaning a circuit of the sun, hence a year.

Flowers don't bloom any differently just because a new year has begun.
Clouds move at the same pace whether it's a new day or a new century.
Yet for humans these convenient markers along the trail of life are
quite convenient.

We brood about what happened yesterday. We plan things for the next
week.
And with a new year, we feel our knapsack of time is replenished.
Again.
What we missed doing last year we might be able to accomplish this
time.

And so the wheel turns.

Ultimately, it's all relative. A story goes that a man prays to G-d.
G-d appears and the man says, "Lord! Our billions of years are your one
second. Our billions of dollars are merely a penny for you. Could you
grant me a penny?" G-d smiles, says "Certainly! Back in a second," and
disappears. May all your wishes be granted in the new year.

Eek...

Lordy- we are only, what, 6.5 hours into the new year and already things are going poorly...my resolution- to be a better gift giver- looks like it might be harder to keep than I thought. Oh yes- this is my resolution for the new year- to hand over the gift and then keep my trap shut...not to apologize, explain, describe, give instructions on how to use, how to possibly use, where I bought it, how long it took me to make it, or anything else that may take away from the experience of the receiver. The resolution involves me handing whatever it is over and then-shutting the heck (!) up. Tall order! Well, the first thing that is close to completion (Denise, your Xmas gift you lucky dog!) looks like a waltz down an aisle of Hobby Lobby. Major OY! I had it planned so artfully well in my brain... Maybe I should call it my new years challenge...She'll be sure and let you know if I gave the gift with grace. :-)
